About Shah Bi Handicrafts Producer Company

Empowering Artisans, Preserving Heritage

Shah Bi Handicrafts is a Kashmir based producer company dedicated to preserving and promoting the timeless craftsmanship of Jammu & Kashmir. We work closely with skilled artisans across the region, particularly from the schedule tribe (ST) communities of District Ganderbal, creating opportunities that celebrate traditional artistry while supporting sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment. A large number of our artisans are women who play a vital role in preserving the rich heritage of Kashmiri embroidery and crochet craftsmanship. Through skill development, training, and market access initiatives, we aim to strengthen their financial independence and encourage inclusive community growth. Rooted in the cultural legacy of Kashmir, our mission is to bridge the gap between traditional handicrafts and modern markets by providing artisans with access to resources, exposure, and sustainable opportunities. Every handcrafted creation reflects generations of dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship, carrying forward the unique artistic identity of the region. With the support of government backed programmes and community focused initiatives, Shah Bi Handicrafts continues to build a sustainable ecosystem where artisans can thrive while preserving the authenticity and beauty of Kashmiri handicrafts for future generations.

Before joining Shah Bi Handicrafts, my embroidery skills had no market. Today I earn a fair income from home, support my children's education, and feel proud that my work reaches customers across India and beyond. This company has given me dignity and a future I never imagined possible.

Shah Bi Handicrafts taught me that my crochet work is not just a household skill — it is an art. They provided training, fair wages, and connected me to a genuine market. My confidence has grown tremendously. I now teach younger women in my village the same craft with pride.

For years I stayed at home with no income of my own. Shah Bi Handicrafts enrolled me in their Sozni embroidery programme and everything changed. I finally have financial independence. My family respects my contribution and I feel like a valued member of something much bigger than myself.

I learned Sozni stitching from my mother but never earned from it. Shah Bi Handicrafts changed that completely. They give us fair payment, treat us with respect, and make sure our work is presented beautifully to the world. I am proud to call myself a professional artisan today.

The workshops organised by Shah Bi Handicrafts opened my eyes to new techniques I had never tried before. They invested time in developing my skills, not just buying my labour. That care has made me a better artisan and given me the courage to experiment and grow in ways I never thought possible.

What I appreciate most about Shah Bi Handicrafts is that they never treated us as just workers. They listened to our ideas, involved us in design decisions, and valued our heritage knowledge. My work finally has a proper identity — it carries my name, my village, and the story of my community.

I am a widow and providing for my children was a constant struggle. Shah Bi Handicrafts gave me steady, dignified work right from my home. I no longer depend on anyone for my children's school fees or daily needs. They did not just give me a job — they gave me back my self-respect.

Through Shah Bi Handicrafts I discovered that my crochet work is genuinely valued by people all over India. The company takes care of everything — materials, quality checks, packaging, and sales — so I can focus entirely on my craft. It is the most peaceful and fulfilling work I have ever done in my life.

Joining Shah Bi Handicrafts was the turning point of my life. The skill development workshops sharpened my Sozni embroidery to a level I never thought achievable. Now I am one of the lead artisans, guiding newer members. The company has given me leadership I never expected and a purpose beyond my home.

MY

Mymoona Bano

I had nearly given up on my ancestral craft because there was no one to buy it locally. Shah Bi Handicrafts showed me there is a world that deeply values what I make. They handle the hard part — selling and marketing — while I do what I love most. I am happy, earning well, and hopeful for my daughters' futures.
